All countries around the world are trying to fight with coronavirus on their level. While doctors are always under the radar of everyone, no one knows the reality of the fear that has spread regarding coronavirus among the masses. Some are wanting to be in hospitals for complete care, while some of them are told to be at home for their treatment to stay safe from secondary infections. The government and state administration is well aware of the lack of infrastructure, but due to lack of awareness among masses, the problem will only increase and not reduce in the coming time. It is also essential to know that not every hospital can keep coronavirus patients and not even the facilities for all. Keeping this in mind, the World Health Organization (WHO) has given some tips that you can follow and take care of coronavirus patients at home.
According to the WHO, home care of coronavirus patients can be very well done, but by following some essential tips:
Take Care Of The Patient's Food
Ensure that the sick person with coronavirus is resting enough at home. Resting does not always mean the patient should be sleeping. While at-home care, caregivers should pay equal importance to their food and water intake. Their diet should be healthy, full nourished and should drink a lot of fluids.
Always Wear A Mask
If you are taking care of a patient suffering from coronavirus and living with one in the same house, always wear a medical mask or an N95 mask. While going closer to a patient and touching his/her belongings, make sure that you do not touch the mask with the same hands before washing your hands properly. Also, if touched, properly dispose of the mask in a covered dustbin.
Wash Hands Frequently
Regularly wash your hands with soap and water while taking care of a coronavirus patient. You can also clean hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Apart from this, you should also keep these things in mind:
- Immediately wash hands after coming in contact with a sick person
- Be sure to wash your hands before and after preparing food.
- Wash hands before eating
- Wash hands thoroughly after using the toilet
